The Robbinsdale Police Department currently has four officers assigned to the West Metro SWAT Team. The SWAT Team is made up of officers from the Robbinsdale and Crystal Police Departments.

The Joint Community Police Partnership (JCPP) is a Hennepin County program that works collaboratively to enhance relationships between police and the community, specifically with immigrants, people of color, indigenous people, and faith communities. Each city tailors programming to their specific community.

The JCPP's mission is to enhance communication and understanding between law enforcement officers and multicultural residents of these cities. By building trust and communication between the police and community members, we will ultimately improve the safety and livability of our communities. We are working together to build safer communities. 

Multicultural Advisory Committee (MAC)

The Multicultural Advisory Committee is a core component of the Joint Community Police Partnership (JCPP). The MAC is an engaged group of volunteers who advise the Robbinsdale Police Department on how to better serve, communicate with, and understand the many cultures that reside in, work in, or visit the Robbinsdale community. The MAC meets monthly with police personnel to discuss topics that are important to their communities, build mutual trust, and open up two-way communication. MAC members represent Robbinsdale's diverse cultural, professional and educational backgrounds. Members are asked to tap into their various skill sets and networks as part of their work in MAC; engage with neighbors, coworkers, students, clients or anyone else to learn how MAC can make progress on police community relations. Click here for the MAC application.

The West Metro Police Explorer Post #3950 is comprised of a group of students with an interest in law enforcement careers who are uniformed and received specialized training and experience in multiple aspects of police work. Explorers participate in many community events, such as Safety Camp, Whiz Bang Days, Public Safety Open Houses, and various other events. Explorers will also work to develop confidence, problem-solving, teamwork, and public speaking abilities!

In the West Metro Police Explorer program, Explorers must be between the ages of 14-20 and have completed 8^th grade. Explorers must maintain a C average or better in school, pass a background check, be willing to volunteer time for community events, and participate in weekly training sessions. At these meetings, Explorers are trained by Police Officers from the Robbinsdale, Crystal, and New Hope Police Departments.

Explorers are taught various police skills and test those skills annually at the four-day statewide Minnesota Law Enforcement Explorer Conference in Rochester, Minnesota.  Scenarios that Explorers will compete in include traffic stops, emergency first aid, domestic crisis, suspicious activity, crime scenes, and others.
