The City Council has established five advisory commissions to provide advice on key areas:

• Charter Commission
• Planning Commission
• Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Commission
• Senior Commission
• Human Rights Commission

Planning and Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commissions have ward representatives in addition to members who serve at large.  The Charter, Senior, and Human Rights Commissions are all at-large appointed members. Individuals are only allowed to serve on one commission at a time.
