The Robbinsdale Fire Department was formally organized in 1909. Its mission is to provide safety and protection of all persons and properties in the City of Robbinsdale through fire suppression, fire prevention through code enforcement and fire safety education. The department is comprised of thirty members from the community who work on a Paid-on-Call status.  This requires each member to respond from work or home when a call for service is received.  The Robbinsdale Fire Department operates from the Public Safety Building located at 4101 Hubbard Avenue North in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. 

The leadership staff on the Fire Department includes:

• Fire Chief — Guy P. Dorholt
• Assistant Fire Chief — Mike Powell
• Fire Captains — Tom Robertus, Brent Nelson, Darren Olson, and Karsten Nelson
• Fire Lieutenants — Ciaran Murtagh
• Fire Marshal — Greg Bodin

These officers guide the members of the Fire Department during calls for emergency service, weekly training drills and monthly work details and administrative meetings.

Types of calls received by the Fire Department include; Structure Fires, Grass Fires, Vehicle Fires, Crash Extrication, Hazardous Material Spills, Fire Alarms, Carbon Monoxide Alarms, Emergency Medical Services, Mutual Aid to other communities, Natural Gas Smells, Smoke Smells, Water Emergencies and more. The Fire Department receives these calls for service through the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center. The dispatch center receives emergency and non-emergency telephone calls and notifies the fire department's members through a voice paging system.  Fire fighters who respond to calls for Fire Services in Robbinsdale come from all different walks of life.

Fire department members respond to calls for service on many types of fire apparatus. The apparatus used by the Robbinsdale Fire Department includes; a 2009 Pierce Velocity PUC Pumper; a 1999 Pierce Quantum 75 foot Ladder, a 2019 Pierce Velocity PUC Pumper, a 2006 Pierce Rescue Truck, a 2008 Ford Utility Truck and a 2000 Air Command Hovercraft.
