Per Robbinsdale City Code, all properties that are not owner occupied, including relative occupied, are required to carry a Rental Dwelling License (Housing Code Section 425).
Per Robbinsdale City Code, a rental dwelling or rental dwelling unit is defined as any dwelling unit not occupied by the owner of record regardless of familial relationship or whether rent or other compensation is paid to the owner (Amended, Ord. No. 03-06; Ord. No. 10-13).
The Rental Dwelling License verifies that the property is registered for occupancy and has met the minimum rental unit requirements set forth by the City.
New rental properties or rental properties that change ownership are required to attend the Crime Free Orientation Class held every quarter.
The Rental Dwelling License cycle is two calendar years.
Once the Rental License Application and proper fee is received a rental inspection is scheduled.
Rental inspections are required every two years.
Following completion of a successful rental inspection, the Rental Dwelling License will be issued.
Rental Dwelling Licenses are non-transferrable.
Renting a property prior to obtaining the Rental Dwelling License is considered a code violation. This offense is a Level 5 Citation and carries a $400 fine.
