Please calculate the cost of your passport application before arriving to process your application. See below for important information regarding the forms of payment for the Passport Application fee and the Acceptance Agent fees.

Payment for Passport Application Fee 

Must be personal check, cashier's check or money order made payable to: US Dept. of State

We do not issue money orders in our office. These fees are not able to be paid for with cash or credit/debit cards.

Payment for Acceptance Agent Fees including Passport Photos ($18) and the Passport Agent Fee ($35)

Can be made by cash, check (payable to City of Robbinsdale) or credit card*. Payment of these fees must be separate from the Passport Application fee.

The following is needed to apply for a U.S. Passport for the first time:

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship*
• Proof of Identity*
• Recent photo (we can take them for you for $18)
• Required fee paid by personal check or postal money order to the U.S. Department of State.
• For minors, two parents (both with valid Minnesota driver's licenses) must accompany the minor throughout the application process. There are some special exceptions for parents who are divorced. There are additional steps required if a parent does not have a driver's license from Minnesota.

We are able to process most passport renewals for minors as well as adults that were issued their most recent passport when they were a minor in our office.

Renewals must be handled by mail and not with our office if all of the following statements are true.

Your current passport:

• is undamaged and can be submitted with your application
• was issued when you were age 16 or older
• was issued within the last 15 years
• was issued with your current name or you are able to provide legal documentation of your name change

If any of the above statements do not apply to you, you are able to apply in person in our office.
